Miss Rebecca Mann, (pictured right) is a classic case of a local student doing local work experience, and she wants to stay in Port Macquarie when she graduates at the end of November.

“I’m currently at the Glasshouse completing the practical part of my degree, which is a Bachelor of Business in Convention and Event Management,” said Rebecca.

“I’m really keen to stay in Port Macquarie and now that I’m getting close to graduating I’m looking through the career advertisements every day.”

Her work experience was facilitated by the Brolga Project and Manager Mr Richard Cowley said Rebecca epitomised the excellent quality young professionals available to the region.

“Rebecca illustrates perfectly, why the Mid North Coast has been labelled as one of three ‘Regions of Opportunity’ by the project; the region has a strong focus on education, training and a commitment to retain young graduates in the community,” Mr Cowley said.

“There’s no need to let this sort of quality young professional head to the city once she graduates,” he added.

Rebecca agrees, adding that her time at the Glasshouse has been a terrific skills development opportunity.

“I’ve had the chance to work across a number of different roles there,” she said, “even being Front House Manager for a conference.”

Looking around at the beachfront cafes, easy parking and thinking of the friendly lifestyle, she added, “Why would anyone want to live anywhere else?”
