Thanks for your interest! Here's how the process works ....
Step 1:
Students and Businesses Complete Expressions of Interest (EOIs) online or
via flyers or handouts |
EOI Information is sent to central database.
Step 2:
EOIs are matched in database
The Brolga Project
{Matches university students needing work experience with under-staffed businesses in rural & regional Australia, via a central database.}
Information is initially matched along these guidelines:
Ø Business vacancy matches students’ study
Ø Time of vacancy / availability to do work experience correspond
Ø Is the position paid or unpaid?
Ø Is the position an introduction to potential ongoing employment?
Once common needs/wants are identified, there’s individual communication identifying whether there’s opportunity to further the student/business relationship.
Ø Where “Yes”, proceed to Step 3; if “No”, EOI remains in database. |
Step 3: |
Dialogue between student and business
(teleconference or internet meetings), hosted by The Brolga Project
Some topics for discussion:
Ø Roles & Responsibilities
Ø How long is the placement
Ø Recompense
Ø Travel
Ø Accommodation
Ø Insurances
Ø Security / Student Care
If there is mutual agreement, proceed to Step 4; if not, EOI remains in database. |
Step 4:
Placement
Students work in the business under normal working conditions. During the placement, businesses are encouraged to introduce the student to local places of interest or into social networks, encouraging the student to experience the rural/regional lifestyle.
Step 5: |
Review
At the end of the placement, students and businesses review the position, identifying areas of mutual satisfaction and/or improvement and if there’s opportunity for further employment.
Step 6:
Return to position after graduation, and/or for (more) vacation work
A reminder ~ the purpose of
The Brolga Project is to give students an opportunity to experience life/work in the regions, in the hope they will return to the placement business at the completion of their study.
